Broussard, Wilburn tabbed SCAC players of the week on Monday

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Southwestern University juniors Justin Broussard and Dylan Wilburn were named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Football Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week, respectively, on Monday afternoon.

Broussard, a 6-foot-1, 235-pound defensive end, collected nine tackles, including five for loss, and a career-best three sacks in the Pirates' 7-6 win at McMurry last Saturday. The Beaumont native also forced a fumble during the contest.

Meanwhile, Wilburn pulled double duty as Southwestern's starting running back and punter. The 5-foot-7, 205-pounder averaged 38.2 yards over eight punts, including a 47-yarder. Additionally, the Houston product carried the ball 24 times for 111 yards.

The Pirates (1-1) will host East Texas Baptist on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Georgetown ISD's Birkelbach Field. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
