GEORGETOWN – With just over three weeks before the start of football practice, 24 Southwestern University football players were honored by the Texas High School Coaches Association earning academic honors the association announced.
Head Coach Joe Austin praised the new Pirates that finished their high school careers in outstanding fashion and have created a solid base as they enter Southwestern this fall. The student-athletes were honored with two players being named to the first-team, nine to the second-team and 12 earning honorable mention accolades.
Student-athletes were required to have an overall grade point average of 92 or above, be a senior and be of good moral character. The THSCA and the U.S. Marine Corps have recognized student-athletes achieving these marks in 13 different sports including football. A complete list of the individuals is listed below:
