KERRVILLE, Texas - Despite outscoring Schreiner 45-36 in the second half Southwestern was unable to secure the win Saturday, falling 71-69 in SCAC play. 

The Pirates shot just 37% from the field in the first half and shot just one free throw in the frame to trail by 12 at the break. 

SU battled back to tie the game 53-53 with 8:32 remaining and breifly led, but Schreiner got hot from the free throw line. The Mountaineers got nine of their final 13 points from the charity stripe to take the win. 

Southwestern (11-11, 6-5) returns home for their final home weekend before the conference tournament, hosting the University of Dallas at 7:30 pm.
