GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern took control of the game early and never relinquished the lead to defeat Texas Lutheran 80-63 Tuesday night.

The Pirates jumped out to a 24-8 lead ten minutes into the game and held a seven point advantage at halftime, 37-30.

TLU hung around and pulled with five points, 49-44, with 11:37 remaining, but SU embarked on a 9-0 run to once again lead by 14 with eight minutes to play. The Bulldogs never pulled within single digits again as Southwestern pressed offensively to close out the win.

The Pirates shot nearly 50% from the field and three point range and was led by Ryan Ogden with 28 points while Chris Molina posted 16. Ogden also led the Pirates on the boards with 8 rebounds as SU out-rebounded TLU 37-35.

Southwestern improves to 7-9 on the year and 2-3 in the SCAC and return to the road to face Centenary College on Friday at 7:30 pm.
