Pirates topped by Tigers in overtime

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Southwestern led by 13 points with ten minutes to play but were unable to pull out the win on the road, falling to Colorado College 80-78 in overtime Sunday. 

Southwestern went into halftime up 12, 40-28, shooting 51.8% from the floor with 12 points coming from Zach Whitlock

Mike May's jumper with just over ten minutes to play gave the Pirates the 13 point advantage, 57-44, but Colorado College embarked on a 14-4 run to trail by three with 3:25 on the clock. Ryan Ogden's three with 46 seconds remaining pushed the Pirate lead back to five, but a pair of free throws followed by a three with six seconds remaining tied the game for the Tigers and sent it into overtime.

Southwestern had the lead in overtime until three minutes remaining as CC's Ryan Young hit a three to hand the lead to the Tigers. A layup by Kyle Howard with 2:04 to play was the final field goal for Southwestern until Chris Molina's three at the buzzer. 

Ogden recorded team highs of 22 points and eight rebounds for Southwestern while Whitlock finished with 14 points.

SU (6-7, 1-1) returns home to face conference-rival Trinity (6-7, 1-1) on Friday night at 7:30 pm.
