Southwestern falls to George Fox, 84-74

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Southwestern Pirates faced George Fox on Saturday afternoon in San Antonio for a neutral-site contest, falling 84-74. 

The Bruins jumped out to a 9-5 lead in the first five minutes of play thanks to the hot 3-point shooting of the offense, making three of their first five attempts from beyond the arc.  

Southwestern traded shots and stayed within reach through the first 10 minutes of the half, but George Fox was able to close the half on a run, sending the Pirates into the locker room down 41-34. 

The Pirates cut the lead to three, 43-40, early in the second half but were never able to take the lead as George Fox went on a run to take a comfortable lead midway through the second half. 

The Pirates scored eight points in the final two minutes of play but were unable to overcome the deficit as the time ran out, falling to the Bruins 84-74.

Ryan Ogden led the Pirates offensively with 26 points on 6-12 shooting from the floor and 13-14 from the free throw line. Zach Whitlock recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds. 

Southwestern (3-5) remains in San Antonio to face Berry College on Sunday at 1 pm.
