Second half scoring spree gives Pirates 87-71 win over Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. – All five starters scored in double figures as Southwestern outscored Pomona-Pitzer 50-32 in the second half to win their second contest of the season.

The lead pinballed back and forth in the first half with Pomona-Pitzer taking a slight two point advantage into the break, 39-37.

With the game tied 60-60 with 10:44 to play Southwestern opened the flood gates and went on a 13-2 run to lead by 11, 73-62. The lead held up as SU cruised to the win.

Chris Molina led all scorers with 17 points while Ben Stiver and Ryan Ogden added 16 and Connor Kim and Zach Whitlock 15.

Southwestern shot an astronomical 63.2% from three point range and 57.1% from the field.

The Pirates (2-2) remain in California to face Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Saturday at 5:30 pm CST.
