Pirates take SCAC rivalry match-up over Trinity

Ryan Ogden posted his second career double-double with game-highs in points, 28, and rebounds, 10, to lead the Pirates to a 74-69 win over Trinity in SCAC basketball in San Antonio on Friday.

Southwestern had a slight advantage at halftime, leading 38-25 at the break after Trinity ended the half on a big run.

SU scored the first six points of the second half and never trailed as they closed out the game from the free throw line.

Southwestern shot 42.9% from the floor and an astonishing 59.1% from three point range and 86.4% from the free throw line. Trinity was held to 44.6% from the field, 34.6% from long range and 52.6% from the charity stripe.

Joining Ogden in double-digit scoring was Chris Lee as all but four Pirates who saw action scored. Trinity was led by Brian Blum's 20 points.

Southwestern improves to 7-6 on the year and 2-2 in the SCAC while Trinity falls to 1-13 overall and 0-3 in conference play. The Pirates head to Kerrville to face Schreiner University on Saturday at 6 p.m.
