Wildcats no match for deep Pirates

Southwestern's two leading scorers in an 87-65 victory over SUNYIT in San Antonio on Friday came off the bench as the Pirates improved to 2-4 on the season.

Chris Molina led the charge with 21 points while Ryan Ogden posted his first double-double as a Pirate with 17 points and 10 rebounds, leading SU on the boards.

The Pirates were slow to start, falling behind 8-2 before jumping into action. Southwestern snagged the lead and closed the half on a 7-0 run to take an 11 point lead, 39-28 into the locker room.

Southwestern continued their dominance in the second half, never allowing the Wildcats back in the game and outscoring SUNYIT 48-37 in the frame.

Chris Lee scored 13 points, joining Molina and Ogden as double-digit scorers. SUNYIT's Maverick Hodge led the Wildcats with 21 points.

Southwestern shot 50% from the floor and a remarkable 55.6% from three point range. The Pirates won the battle of the boards 37-30 and posted 10 steals.

Now 2-4 on the year, Southwestern has one more game before the holidays, facing Pacific Lutheran tomorrow at 3:00 pm in San Antonio.
