SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Southwestern lost the rebounding battle in a 76-62 loss to Baldwin Wallace on Sunday evening.

Southwestern had a strong start and led by six, 11-5, five minutes into the game. Baldwin Wallace manufactured two good runs and led by 11 at halftime 40-29. The Pirates played well offensively in the opening frame, shooting 45% from the floor and 50% from three point range, but were outrebounded 21-10 and were just 2-5 from the free throw line. Adrian Johnson was tough, however, with 11 points on 4-5 shooting including 3-4 from long range.

Southwestern opened the second focused and on a mission and quickly cut the lead to nine after Eric Garza's three pointer with 17:44 on the clock. Unfortunately, that is the closest Southwestern would get as BWU pushed their lead to 17 with 12:50 to play, their largest of the game.

The Pirates hung tight and were within 12 points numerous times in the second half but were unable to get any closer as they fell 76-62.

Johnson led the Pirates with 15 points while Michael Cantu added in 14 and Sean Myers 10. BWU's Jaron Crowe led all scorers with 22 points.

Now 3-7 on the season, Southwestern remains in San Antonio to face Loras on Monday at 5 p.m.
