Sparks Earns ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The 2018 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Div. III All-Region teams have been announced in all eight regions and Southwestern first-year infielder Seth Sparks earned a spot on the All-Region Third Team. The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Div. III All-America Committee.

Sparks had an outstanding freshman campaign, leading the Pirates offensively with a .311 average on the year. He posted a .378 on base percentage and .360 slugging percentage and was fourth on the team in RBIs and doubles. Sparks was also a First Team All-SCAC selection and was named to the d3baseball.com Team of the Week in late February. 

The Pirates closed the 2018 campaign in the SCAC Championship, falling to Texas Lutheran University in the semifinals to finish third overall in the tournament. They closed the year with an 18-24 overall mark.
