Hunter shuts down Dallas to clinch series for Pirates

IRVING, Texas - Colton Hunter struck out nine in a complete-game shutout, as Southwestern trounced Dallas, 11-0, in a run-rule shortened contest to clinch the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference series.

The Pirates (18-14, 7-5 SCAC) posted 15 hits in only seven innings of action.

Southwestern led 7-0 after sixth innings but exploded for four runs in the seventh to force the conference's run rule.

Hunter (4-2) scattered six hits and walked one to collect the victory. He threw 95 pitches, including 70 strikes.

Ethan Hallmark paced the offensive attack, as the junior outfielder was 4 for 5 with a home run, two doubles and an RBI. The Midlothian native also pushed his hitting streak to a team-best 16 games.

Ben Little was 3 for 3, while Daniel Montgomery Jr. also tallied three hits, including a double.

The Bucs will make a stop at Belton on Tuesday night for a non-conference contest against Mary Hardin-Baylor. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
