Baseball sweeps U Dallas in Irving

Southwestern handled the Crusaders with three straight wins over the weekend in Irving to start SCAC play perfect. 

Southwestern used a steady stream of runs to defeat UD. SU won game one 8-1 and turned around to take game two of the Saturday double-header 11-5. The Pirates rounded out the weekend with a 7-5 win Sunday.

Will Cates was unstoppable at the plate, posting a .533 batting average with eight hits in 15 at bats with a double and two homeruns. Cates and Ben Little both had five RBIs and a 1.000 slugging percentage on the weekend.

Joseph Koch, Jacob Kendra and Collin Buckley all earned wins with 0.00 ERAs. Koch and Kendra both threw five innings with Koch scattering four hits and striking out four and walking none and Kendra allowing just two hits while striking out three and walking one.

Southwestern improves to 11-8 on the year and 3-0 in conference play. They return home to host Mary Hardin-Baylor in non-conference action on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
