The SU Pirates fall 11-5 to Wesleyan College despite Ethan Luna's effort

Ethan Luna did his best to will the SU Pirates to a win with a two-hit game, but the SU Pirates dropped a 11-5 contest to Wesleyan College on Tuesday at Keno Sports Complex. Tucson, Az.

Two of the SU Pirates' runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Ethan Luna. He singled in the second inning and homered in the fourth inning.

Collin Buckley looked sharp on the mound. Buckley gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out none during his 3 1/3 innings of work.

Even though Sam Elias allowed five runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory. He struck out three, walked two and surrendered seven hits.

Gunner Vaught was charged with the loss. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed four runs.

Wesleyan College never trailed after scoring four runs in the first on a three-run home run by Guy Davidson and an RBI single by Donnie Cimino.

Wesleyan College added five more runs in the bottom of the second. Cimino kicked things off with a single, bringing home Andrew Yin.

One the SU Pirates run crossed the plate in the top half of the third, making the score 9-1. A groundout by Chase Allen fueled the SU Pirates' comeback. But, Sam Elias got Clayton Sparks to fly out to end the inning.

A four-run fourth inning helped bring the SU Pirates within four. A two-run home run by Ethan Luna, , and an RBI single by Allen gave the SU Pirates life. Finally, Sam Elias got Clayton Sparks to ground out to end the threat.
