LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Southwestern University baseball team was tabbed to finish fifth in the SCAC Coaches' Poll released by the league on Friday.
Defending league champion, Trinity was picked to finish first while conference newcomer Texas Lutheran was tabbed second after a 33-14 record and an American Southwest Conference West Division title.
Centenary was picked third followed by the University of Dallas. The Gents fell in the SCAC post-season title game last season to Trinity, but entered the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed.
The Pirates were followed by Austin College in sixth and Schreiner University in seventh who is also new to the league.
Southwestern opens its season Tuesday, at Howard Payne before traveling across the city to face cross-town rival Concordia in the three game series next week.
