Tigers Take Down Pirates in San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - After rescheduling games due to rain the Pirates and Tigers faced off in a double header on Sunday afternoon. Trinity emerged with both wins, defeating Southwestern 5-1 in game one and 9-0 in game two.

Trinity posted one run in the bottom of the first inning and never looked back. With two more runs in the third TU took a 3-0 lead into the second half of the game. Southwestern responded with one run in the fourth. Charlie Garrett led off the inning with a double to left center and Jeff Glasgow switched places with Garrett to push SU's first run across the plate.

The Tigers were able to score two more in the bottom of the sixth and held Southwestern scoreless in the top of the seventh to secure the 5-1 win. Garrett and Glasgow recorded the only hits for SU while Schweers and Muscarello had two hits each to lead for Trinity.

Chris Webber garnered the loss of Southwestern to fall to 1-2 on the year. He threw six innings, allowing five runs, four earned, while walking none and striking out five. Klimesh earned the win allowing one run on two hits while striking out 15 and walking none.

Game two started with the Tigers jumping on the board early once again, posting three runs in the bottom of the first. With six additional runs in the bottom of the fourth, Trinity jumped way ahead to lead by 9-0. The Pirates pushed one run across in the top of the ninth but couldn't mount a complete comeback to fall 9-1.

Glasgow, Zachary Lynch, Cray Betts and Brett Ebers had one hit each for Southwestern. Muscarello continued his dominant plate appearances, going 5-5 in game two for Trinity.

Matt Stuart garnered the loss, allowing nine runs, eight earned, in four innings. Lucero took the win allowing no runs on three hits with nine strike outs and no walks in five innings of work.

Southwestern falls to 6-14 on the year and 2-4 in the SCAC while Trinity improves to 17-3, 6-0. The Pirates remain on the road to face Howard Payne University in Brownwood on Tuesday.
