FOUR PIRATES NAMED TO ALL-SCAC TEAM

SUWANEE, Ga. - In exclusive voting by the SCAC head coaches Southwestern University has four Pirates named as Honorable Mention selections in the 2010 All-SCAC Baseball Team.

Senior Todd Boone, a centerfielder from Huntsville, Texas, hit .336 this season, third best on the team, with 43 hits in 128 at bats.  As the leadoff batter, Boone had a .442 on base percentage by combining his 18 walks and 8 hit by pitches this with his 43 hits.  He drove in 20 runs this year and scored 28 times himself. 

Junior Kyle Belski, a pitcher/first baseman from Missouri City, Texas, had the second highest batting average of any Pirate this season, going 38-108 from the plate for a .352 batting average, .375 in conference and finishing in the top 3 in every major offensive category for the team during conference. He scored 28 times and recorded 26 RBI's, both second highest on the team.

Sophomore Nate Shipp, second baseman from Belton, Texas, was fourth with a .333 batting average going 40-120 from the plate.  He led the team in batting during conference with a .394 average and finishing in the top 3 in every major offensive category for the team during conference. He drove in 24 runs this year and scored 18 times.

First-year Charlie Garrett, shortstop from Coolidge, Ariz., led the Pirates offensively with a .365 batting average (42-115). He also led in runs scored (30), triples (4), and RBI's (29). Once on base Garrett was one to watch as he stole 10 bases in 12 attempts.

Southwestern ended the season 13-26 overall and 6-14 in the conference after completing a home sweep on Hendrix on the final weekend.
