PIRATES WIN SLUGFEST OVER MCMURRY FOR EIGHTH WIN IN A ROW

GEORGETOWN, Texas - Southwestern University and McMurry University combined for 35 hits and 31 runs in an impressive offensive display at Rockwell Family Baseball Field on Tuesday afternoon. The Pirates emerged with the 19-12 win, their eighth in a row.

McMurry jumped on the board first, pushing two runs across the plate in the first inning, while Southwestern took a little longer to warm up. Once they did, however, the Pirates were unstoppable as the entire team came together scoring, four in the third, one in the fifth, three in the sixth and four in the seventh to be just two runs away from the run rule victory.

MCM retaliated with a six run eighth, pulling within two runs 12-10. Southwestern would have none of McMurry coming close and put up an impressive seven runs in the bottom of the inning. Southwestern was one run shy of once again sealing the win with a run rule, but were forced to finish things out on the defensive side.

SU allowed just two runs in the top of the ninth to seal the victory, 19-12.

Five Pirates had multi-hit games including a 3-4 hit performance by Charlie Garrett and a 4-5 game by Cray Betts. Garrett drove in three runs and scored four times while Kyle Belski led with five RBI's and closed out the game from the mound.

Southwestern closes out their homestand with a single game against UT-Dallas on Wednesday beginning at 3:00 pm.
