Doug Ross, CSCS USAW

Doug Ross was named the Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics in January 2020 and is entering his fourth year within the athletic department administrative offices. 

Ross became a full-time member of the Southwestern family in the spring of 2013 after serving as a part-time assistant for the men’s and women’s track and field team for two seasons. In between stints at Southwestern, Ross was a part-time assistant cross country and track and field coach at Concordia University Texas for two seasons. While there, he helped guide the women’s program to their first-ever American Southwest Conference Cross Country Conference Championship. 

Upon returning to Southwestern in 2013, Ross became the first Head Strength and Conditioning coach in school history, creating and leading the athletic performance programs for all 20 varsity sports.  Southwestern soon promoted him to Assistant Athletic Director in 2017 and his current role in 2020.  Currently, he has sport oversight responsibilities for baseball and volleyball, along with men and women’s programs for cross country, swimming & diving, tennis, and track & field.  Ross also leads the Athletic Performance area comprised of the strength & conditioning department and athletic training services.  Additional duties include his role as the NCAA Senior Compliance Officer, SAAC Representative, Athletic Academic Liaison, and Athletic Admission Liaison.

Ross graduated with a B.S. in Management and Entrepreneurship from Louisiana Tech University, followed by an M.S. in Sports Management from Texas A&M University – College Station.  He holds the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification (CSCS), the USATF Level 1 Coaching Certification, and USA Weightlifting Level I Sports Performance Coach Certification.
