GEORGETOWN, Texas – Southwestern men’s and women’s soccer and men’s lacrosse programs are embarking on a new era of competition at Southwestern; night games. Thanks to generous donations, the SU Athletic Department was able to install lights for the soccer/lacrosse field, pedestrian walkway and parking lot.
While the lights will provide an enhanced level of competition they will be used judiciously and keep in line with the energy conservation and green initiatives across the Southwestern University campus.
In the past few years, Southwestern has added new scoreboards to the softball and soccer/lacrosse fields and, when combined with the new baseball scoreboard, still use less electricity than the former baseball scoreboard alone.
A dedication ceremony is planned for October 21st as the Pirates take on SCAC Conference opponent, Hendrix. Game times have not yet been set for the event.
