Pirates Track & Field Make USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

Georgetown, TX The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced both Southwestern men's and women's Indoor & Outdoor Track made the All-Academic Team honors for the 2017-18 NCAA Division III.

In order for teams to make the All-Academic Team honors the program must have at least a 3.00 or higher GPA and have met at least one of the following athletic standards: competed in an NCAA Indoor or Outdoor Championship, finished the regular season ranked in the national top 50 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 35 in a relay event on the official NCAA Descending Order List. The cumulative Southwestern men's program posted a team GPA of 3.11 and the women recorded a 3.36 GPA.

Out of the 291 teams honored for their academics by the USTFCCCA, about 185 of those were women's teams and 106 were men's programs. The Southwestern Pirates had both men and women with the second highest cumulative GPA in the SCAC right under Colorado College men and women's teams. Pirates were also one of the three teams in the SCAC to have both men and women's teams to make a list. Other fellow SCAC teams to be recognized making the All-Academic teams honors are Texas Lutheran University (women), Trinity University (women) and University of Dallas (women & men).
