Men's And Women's Tennis Advance To Semis At SCAC Championships

GEORGETOWN, TEXAS - The women's tennis team started the SCAC Conference tournament a day early in hopes of missing bad weather and earned the 5-0 victory over Dallas on Thursday at 4:00 PM. The men played on Friday versus Austin College and secured the 5-0 win. Both teams will be advancing to the Semis, on Saturday, April 27th where the Women will play Colorado College at 3:00 PM and the Men will too play Colorado College, at 7:00 PM. Austin College is hosting the Championships, which goes through Sunday the 28th, in Sherman, TX but Saturday matches will be played at SMU's Indoor Courts. 

Women's Highlights

  • Southwestern picked up all the points it needed in doubles with Kimberly Duncan and Daryl Locke winning 8-0 at No. 2 and Mary Young and Erika Synoski capturing an 8-1 win at No. 1.

Men's Highlights

  • Parth Patel and Bernardo Clemente started things off with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, and Oscar Roy and Joseph Snyman completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win at No. 1.
  • Roy, who was recently ranked No. 11 in the nation in singles by the ITA, capped off the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles, while Anton Borovik, Snyman, Travis Rafferty and Clemente all had first sets in the books at the No. 2-5 lines as well when the match was halted.
